Yup! VERY familiar with this project, as well as others he has done. Hope he shares his Shuttle project here too.
Shaw and I have bounced a few ideas off each other over the years. He started this project the same year I started my Large Excelsior.

Thanx!

I'm still trying to decide if I should make molds of the main hull sections and pull the clear parts into them, or just use these shapes as Bucks.

Thoughts anyone?

All the hand cut parts that stack up in the Excelsior's grilled section characteristics...

Pics of the process.

Neck/dorsal

Neck to saucer adapter/fairing. framed with styrene and filled with Apoxie Sculpt. love that stuff!

Dorsal stack in a hand made jig.

Cutting the trenched for the torp launchers

3D modeled torp launchers. list of greebles to recreate these came for a VERY reliable source.  ;-)

Entire roughed out dorsal section.

Warp Nacelles NEXT...

All cut by hand initially the same size. The ones I thought didn't cut the mustard were relegated to "spacer duty" Here shows the two different plates.

Both plate sized are stacked in another hand made jig for final shaping.

Once shaped, they are stacked for cementing on the jigs and allowed to set for a short period.

… then pulled from the jig and clamped and pressed till fully cured.

More hand made sections. the bridge. recent high res photos resolved to actual shape of the NX Excelsior. It was thought for the longest time the the bridge was a simple dome flanked by a wall that flanked both sides and went around the rear.

The Impulse crystal trench was fabricated from a DQ Blizzard cup cover. The dome is 3D printed. It will be cleaned up and molded, then cast in clear resin.

Aft Torp launchers were 3D modeled and printed. I determined that these were mounted on a circular plate that was cut just a bit more than half. I actually need to make a new one because there are two stripes that are about 5mm wide that extend to the sides of the hull.

Completely scratch built Planetary Dome and light trenches.

trenched from styrene.

Dome cast from a 4" Christmas ball. I tried 4" and 4.5".

Then scribed on a Lazy-Suzan and a compass.

Bridge from scratch with new hi-res images as a reference.

Primary Hull masters/Bucks completed.

Secondary Hull Master/Buck completed

Upper saucer's super structure Master/Buck completed

Warp nacell Masters/Bucks completed

These masters will be vacuum formed on clear. I have window masks with the help of Lou Delmaso, and Orbital Drydocks for the hull for lighting.

Here's the project as it sits now. need to get back to it!

Hope you like it. I've been on it since 2014. Wish I worked as fast as Steve does!  ;-)
